![]() Even Evil Morty's ascended to run the Citadel of Ricks would have been at a tremendous pace, so there does not have to be an age conflict between Morty and his evil self.Įvil Morty presumably did break the time loop in "Rickmurai Jack" but who knows how many attempts he made to destroy the Central Finite Curve? His calmness (and almost bored look) in the chaos suggests he may have looped many times. While it may seem like it would take a long period of time for Morty to become jaded enough to turn Evil, the progression of Morty's dissatisfaction throughout season 5 was swift, since Rick and Morty has all happened with Morty as 14 years old. Although connecting the characters flirts with several continuity problems, Rick and Morty is no stranger to potential plot holes. It is not hard to imagine that if C-137 Morty continued to grow more ruthless (but also capable) at the same rate, he may end up more resembling Evil Morty. On the surface, Evil Morty and C-137 Morty have different personalities, but throughout the series C-137 Morty has acted with increasing independence, and has more and more often dipped into violent behavior. The theory goes that at some point C-137 Morty becomes so jaded that he becomes Evil Morty, who then travels back in time to change his past for the better by becoming the president of the Citadel of Ricks, and destroying the Central Finite Curve, ending Rick's intellectual domination of the multiverse. Although Rick and Morty has substantially complicated the origin of Morty on a dimension-to-dimension basis, and season 5's finale seems to solve how Mortys are really made, there remains a fan theory that these two Morty characters may in fact be the same Evil Morty may be C-137 Morty just later down the timeline. There may be infinite Mortys across infinite dimensions, but two Mortys in particular have been stand-out characters in the show: the central universe Morty (universe C-137, who is a main character in Rick and Morty as opposed to his other-dimensional variations) and Evil Morty, from a dimension unknown. ![]() Related: Why Rick & Morty Needs A Live-Action Episode Although Rick and Morty has dabbled in time-travel before, most of its comedic sci-fi stories are told by hopping dimensions with Rick's portal gun. The season 5 finale "Rickmurai Jack" saw the end of the multiverse (or at least Rick's variant's domination of it) that has been the show's playground at the hands of Evil Morty. The much-celebrated Adult Swim animation Rick and Morty concerns the adventures of common teenager Morty and his maniacal, drunk, and (at least partially) mad scientist grandfather, Rick, who go on dangerous and often silly adventures.
